In 2 separate rented house/apartment facilities reside 7 male and 7 female college/university students, together with their respective resident leaders. Joining the girls this year is Keri Karman, an OnSite intern from Ambrose University in Calgary. Though the residence is functioning year round since students seem to study year round, with the fresh round of fall classes and courses resuming so comes a reshuffling of residents and a new course of study at the dorm as well.
In exchange for a place to live while studying in the city, they give us their time as we seek to build them into effective leaders for the Cambodian church of tomorrow. Each day brings regular classes to attend which are taught by both the dorm leaders and various missionaries. The residents study the classes offered at the dorm everyday either in the morning or the afternoon, depending on their other study schedules. They study Theological Education by Extension for 2 sessions/week, Evangelism Explosion course for 1 session, and a leadership development course for one session.
In addition to these classes we run daily English language classes for the larger student community taught by Keri, another single missionary teammate and students from Bill's university course. These teachers meet on Fridays together with Bill for further instruction on teaching English.
Monthly Sunday evening worship times continue for both the residents and their friends. This has been met with enthusiasm and good turn-out for the past couple of months.
Every week both Bill and Ilana meet with the respective male and female leaders for the purpose of mentoring and guiding them in their leadership roles.
To meet each of the residents and for more information on this dorm ministry and the needs there please take time to visit the those pages on this site.
